Serena Houston, LCPC

Founder & Psychotherapist

My professional journey started with research in trauma studies and evolved through direct roles in mental health rehabilitation and substance use treatment. After completing my master’s degree, I gained experience in both private practice and higher education. Driven by a deep passion for helping others, I founded Serene Insights to bring my vision of compassionate, individualized, and values-based care to life.

Specialties & Approach

I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, stress and grief, but my experience spans a wide array of chronic clinical concerns. My therapeutic approach is relational and integrative, grounded in a psychodynamic perspective. I often incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), behavioral activation, person-centered techniques, relaxation training, and prolonged exposure therapies to meet the unique needs of each client.

My Commitment to You

Whether you are dealing with the aftermath of trauma, struggling with anxiety, looking to better manage stress, or need an extra line of support; I am here to support you on your journey toward healing and personal growth. Serene Insights is built on the belief that therapy should be accessible, empathetic, and tailored to each individual.

After Hours

When I’m not supporting clients, I enjoy expressing myself through painting, nurturing my garden, exploring new cultures through travel, hiking scenic trails, practicing yoga, and lounging with a great book. These activities help me stay grounded and inspire the creative, holistic perspective I bring to my work.
